Sports Events You Cannot Miss in 2025

Popular sports across the globe include motor racing, athletics, golf, and tennis. Here are some events to look forward to in 2025.

Formula One World Championship

The opening race of the F1 World Championship season will take place on 14 March in Australia. Max Verstappen will be looking to win his sixth world title. He has a contract with Red Bull until 2028. Lewis Hamilton announced his move to Ferrari, and this could boost his performance on the track. One of the other British drivers to watch is 19-year-old Oliver Bearman who has joined the Haas team.

In 2024, the schedule saw changes which will continue in 2025. Season openers will be in Australia, China, and Japan. The Middle East races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi will close the season. Many F1 fans in the U.S. will be watching the races and betting online in states where it’s legal.

World Athletics Indoor Championships

The World Athletics Indoor Championships will take place from March 21 to 23 in Nanjing, China. Qualifying for this event will continue until early March, so it isn’t known yet which athletes will participate in the track and other field events. The U.S. won six gold medals and 20 altogether at the 2024 championships in Glasgow so they will be the team to beat.

This year, over 500 athletes from more than 100 nations will compete in 26 events. Athletes who participate in events like this must train smarter to stay fit. Sprinters and hurdlers compete over 60 meters indoors. Viewers can expect a potential showdown in the relays between the defending Dutch world indoor champions and the U.S reigning Olympic champions.

The Masters

The Masters will take place in Augusta from April 10 to 13. Scottie Scheffler has won two Masters in succession and may win a third one this year. The 28-year-old American won seven titles across the season in 2024. He is second after Tiger Woods to win PGA Tour Player of the Year in three straight seasons.

Scheffler had surgery for a cut to his hand in December but that won’t hold him back. Bernard Langer who has won the Masters twice will be competing this year for the last time. The 67-year-old German says he feels emotional about playing for his 41st and final time.

Royal Ascot

Royal Ascot will take place this year from June 17 to 21. This unique event attracts over 300,000 people and is known for its strict dress code and traditions. The British Royal family has strong ties with Ascot and a member of the family usually attends.

It is not only an experience for attendees but a chance to see some top-class racing. The best horses from across the globe compete. Each of the five days is packed with racing and fashion, offering its own special charm.

Wimbledon

On the sporting events calendar, Wimbledon is a must on many people’s bucket lists. It takes place from June 30 to July 13. Carlos Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic to the title in the previous two men’s finals and will be looking for a third title. Jannik Sinner has been on a winning streak so he’s another male player to watch. Daniil Medvedev could also secure a spot in the final.

Barbora Krejcikova took the women’s singles title in 2024 with a strong win against Jasmine Paolini. Aryna Sabalenka is likely to be back on form this year after dropping out due to a shoulder injury last year. Coco Gauff, Iga Swiateck, and Ons Jabeur are other female players to watch
